American Academy of Audiology Foundation to Partner with ARO to Fund 2010 ARO Travel Award
The American Academy of Audiology Foundation is partnering with the Association for Research in Otolaryngology (ARO) to fund travel awards for audiologists to attend the 2010 ARO MidWinter Meeting being held February 6-10, 2010, in Anaheim, CA.
Awards of $500 each are being offered to defray travel and lodging costs for presenting authors at the ARO's annual meeting. The recipients of these Travel Awards will be selected by the American Academy of Audiology Research Committee. Applicants need not be a member of ARO.
The purpose of the award is to encourage audiologists to attend the Midwinter Meeting and become active in the ARO. These travel awards are made possible by a grant from the American Academy of Audiology Foundation (AAAF).
Individuals selected will be judged according to the following criteria:
- Applicants must be full-time audiology graduate students or audiology postdoctoral research fellows carrying out research pertinent to the interests of ARO.
- Applicants must be the presenting author on an abstract submitted for the 2010 ARO Midwinter Meeting.
- Applicants must demonstrate clear need for financial assistance for attending the ARO Midwinter Meeting.
Prospective candidates should submit the following for consideration:
- A letter from the applicant stating desire, need and qualifications for the award based on the stated criteria
- A copy of the submitted abstract for poster or podium presentation at the 2010 ARO MidWinter Meeting. The original must have been submitted via the Web by abstract deadline (see www.aro.org)
- Curriculum vitae
- Letter of recommendation from the graduate training supervisor, director of the graduate program, or department chairman, including a guarantee of funds to pay the balance of travel expenses**
- Disclosure of other travel awards applications for the same presentation at ARO (university excluded). AAA will recognize, but not fund a student also receiving an ARO travel award.
** NOTE: If more than one applicant comes from a program, the supervisor/director/chairman must prioritize the applicants. Applications must be received at the ARO Office by October 15, 2009, and should be submitted to:
Audiologist Travel Award Committee ARO Executive Office 19 Mantua Road Mt. Royal, NJ 08061 Phone: 856-423-0041; Fax 856-423-3420; E-mail: headquarters@aro.org
