Thankathon 2008: AAAF Board Reaches Out to Donors and Volunteers
The AAAF Board met in Reston last month and dedicated part of their meeting to their annual Thankathon. Eleven Trustees (and one student representative) spent Thursday afternoon, November 12, calling donors to thank them for their gifts to the 2008 Annual Fund. They also made calls to Academy leadership to thank them for their volunteer service. This was a major undertaking since there are so many wonderful volunteers and generous donors who support the Academy and AAA Foundation.
Dianne Meyer, board member and Thankathon caller, said many of those she reached were pleasantly surprised by the outreach, “I had several donors say that they really appreciated the personal touch of a special phone call. They also appreciated the opportunity to hear about the programs that the Foundation funds. Quite a few said ‘Keep up the good work…and I’ll keep giving.’ That positive feedback made me feel proud to be part of the great Foundation team.”
The AAAF Board attempted to contact over 450 donors and volunteers over the course of the afternoon. Although the trustees were not able to reach everyone, they were excited by the response and plan to make the Thankathon an annual event.
