Walk4Hearing in October!!!

The Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) is working (and walking!) to make hearing loss an issue of national priority and to raise funds for programs and services through its Walk4Hearing initiative.  The American Academy of Audiology and the AAA Foundation are National Sponsors of the 2007 Walks, and encourage Academy members, their friends, families and associates to get involved with this worthwhile program.

Dr. Terry Portis, executive director of HLAA, reports that after the spring season, which included nine walks, $465,000 had been raised. He went on to add: "I think the most exciting aspect of Walk4Hearing is that it is true grassroots activity. People with hearing loss, their family and friends, and caring professionals are telling everyone they know about Walk4Hearing. They explain why they are involved in this cause, and why it is important. Thousands of people talking to thousands of people will raise awareness in a unique and powerful way."

Walk4Hearing will take place in the locations below in October:
Oct. 20 Permian Basin, TX (Odessa/Midland area)
Oct. 27 North Texas (Ft. Worth area)
 Oct. 28 National Capital Area

You can participate as an individual or join a team, and a portion of your fundraising dollars will support the AAA Foundation by selecting the AAA Foundation on your registration form.  Visit the HLAA website (hearingloss.org) for more information.
