Bio: Danielson
Richard (Dick) Danielson, PhD
Richard (Dick) Danielson, PhD, is the Manager for Audiology and Hearing Conservation at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. Working for the National Space and Biomedical Research Institute since 2003, he leads a NASA program aimed at preventing noise-induced hearing loss (during spaceflight and ground-based missions). He served for 28 years as a U.S. Army audiologist, including an assignment as the Officer-in-Charge of an audiology task force working in a combat theater of operations for Operation Desert Storm, and as the Director of the Army Audiology and Speech Center at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
Dr. Danielson has served in various leadership roles of the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) and was CAOHC’s Chair in 2005. He is the president of the Texas Academy of Audiology and is a member of the Governmental Relations committee of the American Academy of Audiology. Dr. Danielson’s PhD is from the University of Texas at Dallas (Callier Center). He has served as a faculty member of several universities, including a current appointment as an associate professor at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. He and his wife, Laura, have three adult children.
