Voices of Hearing and Balance Wellness

Voices of Hearing and Balance Wellness

Public Awareness Initiative

Experiencing patient success stories is one of the most rewarding parts of working in the health-care field. However, those heart-warming stories often go unnoticed by the general public; especially when it comes to managing hearing and balance wellness.

The American Academy of Audiology Foundation (AAAF) has launched a new public awareness initiative to highlight audiologists’ contributions and promote the impact audiologists have on maintaining hearing and balance wellness.

From now through December 15, 2017, the AAAF will be collecting stories written from the perspective of the patient to publish in a book. By publishing real patient success stories, the Foundation strives to illustrate the benefits of early identification, treatment, and management of hearing and balance problems with the help of an audiologist.

We’d love to hear the story about how your patients’ lives have improved by working with you. In 300 words or less, please use the considerations below to describe your patient success story:

  • How your patient’s life has changed/improved? What type of counseling, rehabilitation, prevention, etc., specifically helped your patient with their quality of life?
  • Can you describe specific moments, conversations, and/or quotes from your patients about how you worked together, and/or with their loved ones to achieve better health outcomes?
  • What are your patient’s words of advice about seeing an audiologist?
  • How does helping achieve better outcomes for your patient feel?

Twenty stories will be selected for inclusion in the book. Those submitting stories will be entered into a drawing for free registration to attend the AAA 2018 Conference in Nashville. In honor of the 30th annual conference of the American Academy of Audiology, the book will be available for a $30 donation to the AAAF.
